The Women’s Association of Megali Panagia has been organizing Xeskouriazo every year since 2013, on Mount Kakavos, in the Skouries forest, in Megali Panagia, Halkidiki.

Xeskouriazo is not just an athletic event. It’s a race dedicated to the struggle against the gold-copper mining that threatens the mountain, the water sources, and the lives of the people in Halkidiki and beyond As long as mining endangers the land and the environment is under threat, this race will remain a symbol of environmental struggle. Our goal remains to promote sport, showcase the natural beauty of our region, and defend the environment as a source of life and joy for all — now and always.

A traditional celebration will follow the awards ceremony in the central square.

The event is a member of the ITRA – International Trail Running Association. The 25km race is part of the ITRA Point system (1 point) and included in the UTMB Index. The 15km race is also ITRA-certified and scored. Both races are part of the ITRA National League 2026. The 5km road run will also take place the same day.

Free lodging is available on Saturday, October 3, in shared dormitories (up to 10 people per room) just 1.5 km from the village. Free camping with access to toilets is also allowed in the same area. Guests must bring their own sheets, sleeping bags or blankets and contact the organizers at least 15 days in advance.
