XESKOURIAZO 2024: Race Report and Final Results
The 11th edition of “XeSkouriaZo Trail” was successfully completed, with around 400 athletes participating (158 in the 5km, 134 in the 15km, and 104 in the 24km races) from Greece and various countries, including Germany, North Macedonia, Russia, and Cyprus. The athletes had the chance to run through the Kakavos trail network, enjoying its natural beauty while also witnessing the destruction we face. Notably, this year’s event saw a significant increase in female participation, which exceeded 30% across all races—a meaningful achievement for a race organized by the Women’s Association and promising for the future of trail running.
It should be noted that, despite the slight extension of the route, a women’s record was set in the 25km race, improving the previous record by 18 minutes! This record was set by Christina Giazitzidou.

Every year, we listen to the feedback from the athletes and continuously improve our races. Any mistakes that may have occurred will be addressed. We encourage everyone to reach out with their observations, either through our pages or via email.
As Women’s Association of Megali Panagia, we thank everyone who contributed in any way. Especially the volunteers, athletes, sports and environmental organizations, doctors, the Greek Rescue Team, photographers, musicians, and everyone who joined us on the mountain and in the square of Megali Panagia.
We look forward to seeing you at the Paiko Half Marathon on November 3rd 2024, a race twinned with XeSkouriaZo, sharing the same concerns for environmental protection.
We will continue running for the environment and life. We will keep running against destruction. XeSkouriaZo Trail is dedicated to the fight against gold-copper mining, which threatens the mountain, waters, and lives of the people in Chalkidiki and the wider area.
See you again on October 5, 2025!
